SpeedFerries’ route from Dover to Boulogne is a car service only and in general vehicles accepted on board SpeedOne must be self propelled by conventional means.

Cars, minivans and smaller motorhomes can be accomodated as long as they fall within the overall limitations on height (2.9 m), width (2.0 m) and length (7.0 m), which are given by the configuration of the cardeck and ramps and a tight sailing schedule. Basically for the same reasons SpeedFerries is unable to take caravans and coaches.

When booking a crossing with SpeedFerries you are asked to select a vehicle type, which depends on the overall size of the vehicle and the number of passengers travelling in your vehicle. Oversized or overloaded vehicles will not be accepted for travel.

Standard Car
A vehicle no longer than 5.0 m, no wider than 2.0 m and no higher than 1.85 m and carrying a maximum of 5 persons over the age of three will qualify as a standard car. If a car falls within these measurements but carries more than 5 persons over the age of three it falls into the category “Large car”.

High Car
A high car is a vehicle within the following limitations: height 2.9 m, length 5.0 m, width 2.0 m carrying a maximum of 5 passengers. This category has been added mainly to accommodate those travelling with extra luggage on the rooftop of their cars.

Large Car
A large car is a vehicle within the following limitations: height 2.9 m, width 2.0 m and length 7.0 m carrying a maximum of 9 persons over the age of three.

Car and trailer
A car and trailer combination must fall within the following limitations: height 2.9 m, width 2.0 m and length 7.0 m carrying a maximum of 9 persons over the age of three.

The total weight of any vehicle must not exceed 3.5 tonnes and the total width must not exceed 2.0 m.

All meassurements indicated above include roof racks, top boxes, bicycles and any other objects mounted on or fixed to the car.


Traffic
SpeedFerries is the only ferry operator in the port of Boulogne. Consequently, there is never any heavy traffic blocking the harbour and SpeedFerries customers can quickly and easily enter and exit from the port area and connect to the auto link road leading straight onto the main A16 and entire French motorway system.
